Since this is my first show review, I thought let's start out with my favorite show Jagged Line which is the 2017 show for the Bluecoats. First off I would like to talk abou the musical selections. The Bluecoats chose the most risky song choices for their show out of all the Corps. This is because while most people know the pieces that other corps play or are original works by corp staff members, the Bluecoats chose works by artists 99% of us did not know before this show. But even though this factor can't be judged and they have dropped to 4th currently since becoming the 2016 DCI World Champions , it has payed off for the Bluecoats. The music shows how the corp can take whatever music they feel that can work and turn it into a show. Now let's move onto the show it's self. My favorite part of the show is actually at the beginning when the Bluecoats brass get onto the Jagged Line stage and play the first big hit of the show. But one thing that I think they could do better is the use of props. I like the Jagged Line stage but compared to the use of the slides in last years show Downside Up, it's way behind. The way they used the slides last year helped them win last year, and if the Bluecoats had better props this year it would help boost the visual score and probably put them neck to neck with Blue Devils and Vanguard to win this year. I also think they took a step down in terms of their use of color guard this year. Last year the guard helped play an vital part in their championship run. But this year it looks like they have more of work ment for a lower World class corp and not that of a champion. I really do love this show but some parts of it make it not able to contend with the 3 corps ahead of them. But I firmly believe that the Bluecoats will win another championship in the coming years.
